Mindfulness Meditation to Create a Healthy Brain
Stress has such a significant impact on one’s general health and well-being that there are many new research studies dedicated to impacting stress levels. In a new study by researchers at the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine, patients diagnosed with breast cancer but not undergoing treatment received either a mindfulness meditation course or an education program. Those in the mindfulness course showed greater blood flow to brain areas associated with controlling emotions and regulating stress. This ability to change the brain with regards to stress holds great potential for improving the lives of cancer patients, but with significant room for further studies.
